Overview - Women's Chorus - Men's Chorus - Armonia - Madrigals - Opera Scenes / AP Music Theory

Women's Chorus is a chance to learn and experience all different types of music, learn the beginnings of music theory, and create an environment where a large group of people can bond through a common passion: music. This year, the main focus of our choral department is to get McLean High School into the top 10 choirs in the nation. This year, in Women's Chorus, we intend to contribute to that goal and create a family-like group. Our goal is to eliminate the gap between upper and lower classmen and also create a "family" where everyone gets along without a need for exclusive groups. Also, We hope to explore many different genres of music, learn to sing in many different languages and styles, from all time periods. Musically, Women's Chorus should be a joy for all participants due to the range of experience, talent, and the large number of singers. The entire chorus department looks forward to an excellent and hopefully successful year, and we can't wait to experience it with you!!

Women's Chorus is comprised of intermediate and advanced-level musicians.  All singers will work hard to make a year's worth of improvement over their skill level, and the group will grow in musicianship, cohesion and sensitivity throughout the year.  Continued strengthening of vocal technique, sight-singing and music theory contributes to polished performances of music from a variety of styles and periods.  These choirs perform at all Choral Department concerts, District Festivals, Competitions and end-of-the-year events.  Advanced-level members are expected to audition for District Chorus in the fall, and intermediate-level members are encouraged to do so as well.  Advanced students are required to rehearse after school on the last Wednesday of every month from 5:00-6:30 pm, and to audition for solos.  Advanced members are graded more stringently than intermediate students, as outlined in the class syllabus.
