Fees

Please review the Welcome Letter and Membership Form for the 2009-2010 school year. Note that this version contains a correction from the hard copy that was sent home with students at the beginning of the school year.

We are entering an extremely busy choral season, and the MHS Choral Parents Association will be contacting you more frequently about upcoming events and the annual trip.

 

Thank you for your prompt payment. 

The Choral Department gets from Fairfax County a lump sum of less than  $750 for the year...for the whole department.  This came to about $7.50 per student (around 100 students). The request for fees is sent out early in the year. MHSCPA  bases  the fees requested of your child based on what  choral group (s) your child is in.   Armonia parents pay for Armonia only activities.  Madrigal parents pay for the Madgrigal only activities, and so on.

Donations

Donations are a key component of funding for McLean Choral Groups. To donate, please use the Director's Circle form. Mail the form to MHSCPA, PO Box 624, McLean, VA 22101.

Where Does the Money Go?

The Choral Department needs funds for:

  • Concerts
  • Accompianist for the year
  • Music
  • Costumes - plays
  • Opera: props and costumes
  • music licensing
  • All Choral Competition trip, festival, and travel fees
  • Boar's Head Feast
  • Financial Aid where needed
  • State / District Competition
  • Honors Chorus / Allstate

This is only a general breakdown.  However, anyone wishing to see a more detailed report is welcome to request a copy of the budget from the treasurer.  A budget is also presented at the parents meeting, and at all board meetings.

It is only with the help of the Mclean Choral Parents that the children in the choral department are able to participate in these activities.  Thank you!
