Overview - Women's Chorus - Men's Chorus - Armonia - Madrigals - Opera Scenes / AP Music Theory

Armonia, the artist level women's ensemble, is starting off the new school year with determination and dedication. Each individual member is to uphold the responsibilities of learning their music and practicing outside of the classroom. They are also to be taking voice lessons from a private vocal teacher, so that they cannot only be members of a choir, but soloists as well. Armonia is going to be led this year by senior Haley Dorgan, senior Jessica Potashnik, and sophomore Corbin Rugh, all officers of the choir. They, and the other members of Armonia hope to make this choir a close-knit group of girls as well as a top performance choir.

Armonia will be participating in all choral department events, as well as requested concerts during the Christmas season. They will also be working on competition pieces to present to judges during the choral department trip to Nashville, Tennessee. The choirs' goal is to place in the top ten out of the entire nation. First and foremost, the ladies must prepare for the Halloween themed concert coming up in October. This is the opening concert of the year. It should be lots of fun so I recommend bringing family members and friends!

Armonia was assembled first during the 2002-2003 school year to provide artist level training and performance opportunities for talented singers who auditioned for and were assigned spots in the 16-voice choir.  The name "Armonia" means 'harmony' in Italian, and was chosen from among choir member suggestions to name this unique group.

Armonia is an ensemble of artist-level singers who rehearse during their classroom period and frequently after school. The students perform in a variety of venues throughout the year, focusing on performance skills. They participate in all choral department events and events outside of school. Students are required to audition for district choir, participate in festival and the spring competition. Members are expected to learn their music at home and study with a private voice teacher. If this presents a financial difficulty, students can ask the director for assistance.
